Fire

History lesson: June 13, 1885 – A blaze swallows all of the newly incorporated City of Vancouver in The Great Vancouver Fire. Only 4 short days later buildings began to appear again from the ground up, over $6000 was raised for new fire fighting equipment and a population of 1000 started to rebuild their Vancouver.

Put to practice during the Olympics on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, artist  Isabelle Hayeur wanted to remind us of troubled times past and present with Fire to Fire. The photo above is a still shot of the video installation created with video projectors and blu-ray players. For more stills, please go here.
