It’s the 2 chairs that really do it here for me. I love that nature inspired fabric on the slipper chair. It does such a nice job of brightening up the black wall (which looks sooooo good). And check out the back of the desk chair – great shape!

The Hanger Chair by Philippe Malouin

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you The Hanger Chair. I must say this is a pretty clever little design by Montreal born, London based designer Philippe Malouin. Philippe studied industrial design (a man after my own heart) in Montreal. Freelancing for english designer Tom Dixon moved him to London where he now has his own studio to practice a more experimental approach to furniture and interior design.

Please take a moment to look at Philippe’s website (my other favourite is the Dervish Lamp). I first learned about Phillipe on another cool blog called Travails.

The Suitcase. The Chair.

Oh my god. I am so incredibly in love with these designs by Katie Thompson. Katie has an amazing ability to see the beauty and hidden purpose in the items that she chooses for her pieces. My favourite, the suitcase chair really inspires me to look at every day items a little more closely – stop to smell the roses around you one might say. All of my close friends know that I am determined to make a suitcase chair of my own sometime soon, I will let you know how it goes!

Please visit Katie’s website, Recreate for more pictures and more of Katie’s products.

Daily Spark.Feb 1 11

I’ve been very into the idea of making old things new again lately. There is something about old pieces that make them so special. Just knowing that they have more of a story behind them and that someone out there saw enough value in them to keep them beautiful makes them my favourite.
